## TL;DR
Apple began rolling out Siri AI in beta on September 14, 2026, in English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish due next month. It can search your messages, emails, and photos, act on what is on screen, and take actions inside third-party apps. It is not available in the EU on iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch at first, or in China pending approval, and is unavailable to users under 13. Apple says server-side features have daily limits and that expanded access will be available for a fee in the future.

Apple's announcement is long and mixes shipping features with later ones. This article separates what you can use now from what is promised.

## What Siri AI does

- Personal context: it can search your messages, emails, and photos to answer questions.
- Onscreen awareness: it can work with what you are looking at, including web content.
- App actions: it can take actions across the system, including in third-party apps; Apple names Outlook, Notability, and Tripsy.
- Broader world knowledge for general questions, expressive customisable voices, and a dedicated Siri app with conversation history synced through iCloud.

## Who gets it

| Platform | Supported models per Apple |
| --- | --- |
| iPhone | iPhone 16 and later, iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max |
| iPad | iPad mini (A17 Pro), iPad with M1 or later |
| Mac | M1 or later, and MacBook Neo (A18 Pro) |
| Other | Apple Vision Pro; Apple Watch Series 9 and later, Ultra 2 and later, SE 3 |

*From Apple's September 14 announcement.*

Siri AI starts in English in beta, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish next month. It is unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS initially, is not available in China pending regulatory approval, and is not available to users under 13.

## How it works and what Apple says about privacy

Apple says the features run on its own Apple Foundation Models, built in collaboration with Google Gemini, using on-device processing plus Private Cloud Compute, and that data is inaccessible to Apple during Private Cloud Compute processing. Those are Apple's claims; the announcement does not include an independent audit.

## The cost and the limits

- No upfront price was announced for the software.
- Server-side features, including Siri AI, Image Playground, photo editing, and Shortcuts, have daily usage limits.
- Apple says "expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future." The fee and its date were not given.
- Some audio features (Live Rewind, Siri Recap) arrive in beta later in 2026, and new Health insights are listed for later this year.

## What this means

If you compare Siri AI with ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude, the difference today is that it works across your own apps and data on Apple hardware, while the limits and eventual fee are unknown. Wait for the real usage caps and price before building a workflow around it, and check the EU and language status if you work outside the US.
